In the mid-1990s, a bacterium, Helicobacter pylori, was linked to stomach cancer, the fifth leading cancer killer worldwide. Our lab is interested in the mechanisms by which this bacterium can establish and maintain a chronic infection in the stomach and the molecular cross-talk between the host and the bacterium during infection that can lead to disease.

It aims to improve treatment strategies, reduce antibiotic resistance, and minimize the occurrence of related pathologies by systematically assessing the efficacy and safety of various treatment regimens.
